Peeling tomatoes does not have to be a messy or difficult task. A quick soak in boiling water followed by a nice ice bath is all you need to make short work of the job. Once peeled, your tomatoes are ready for canning, turning into tomato sauce or simply chopping to use in your favorite recipes. You may never go back to buying peeled tomatoes again once you see how easy it it to do it yourself. Check our out video to see how easy it is:

Here are the directions as well…

1. Score the bottom of your tomatoes with a sharp knife. Don’t cut too far into the tomatoes, you just want to cut an “X” in the skin.

2. Put the scored tomatotes into a pot of boiling water. Allow them to boil for about 90 seconds. You will see the skin starting to split open.

3. When you see the skin splitting, remove the tomatoes from the boiling water with a slotted spoon and immediately put them into an ice water bath. You want to stop the cooking as quickly as possible.

4. Take them out of the ice water and simply pull off the skin. Your tomatoes are now ready for use.

And just a quick note about tomatoes: tomatoes are a great source of vitamin C. Also they are full of lycopene which is very important for men as it helps protect the prostate. Make sure you get your recommended 10 servings of tomatoes a week.

Intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing that you don’t put it in a fruit salad.
