Check it out, we are doing an adults only, 21 and over recipe. Yay for cocktails!

I find traditional red sangria to often been a little too heavy and strong. Especially when Ethan makes them. His first attempt at sangria burned all the way down. I much prefer the alcohol taste to be minimal and the fruit to be the star. Also, I am not a huge fan of apples (I know. And Ethan loves them, so we are a mixed marriage, but I digress), and apples are usually a key ingredient in red sangria.  Peaches however are one of my favorite summer fruits. They provide the fruitiness for our Peach Sangria made with white wine. The peaches should be ripe, but not over ripe. You don’t want them dissolving into your drink, but you don’t want them so firm that you can’t eat them. Using white wine keeps this much lighter, but I promise it still has a kick. In fact, it may be more potent than red sangria as it tastes almost like a punch.

Sangria is best if you make it a day ahead of time to let the fruit infuse the wine and the wine permeate the fruit. If you don’t have a day to wait, it is fine and will taste great, but if you can let it sit even for a few hours, it is so worth it. Remember, please drink responsibly, and DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE!

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Chilling Time: at least 2 hours
Yield: 2 litres

Ingredients:

1 750ml bottle dry white wine
3/4 cup peach flavored vodka or peach schnapps
1/4 cup white sugar (use only 2 TBL if using schnapps)
1 pound peaches, pitted and sliced (no need to peel them, but if you want to, here is how to do it)
1 1/2 cups seedless grapes, sliced in half. Use all one kind of a mix of colors. Just sure sure they are seedless.
1 litre lemon-lime seltzer

Directions:

1. Pour the wine, vodka, and sugar into a large pitcher. Stir to dissolve the sugar.

2. Add the peaches and grapes.

3. Refrigerate until well chilled, at least 2 hours. Overnight is better.

4. When ready to serve, pour in the seltzer and stir gently to combine.

5. Pour into glasses and use a slotted spoon or ladel to get fruit into each glass. Serve with forks so you can eat the fruit.
