I was hungry this morning after my cardio workout but I didn’t want something too filling like a big bowl of oatmeal. Sometimes after hard cardio workouts, eating a bowl of oatmeal actually sparks my hunger. I knew that a filling protein packed smoothie was in order. I was really craving my California Date Shake but I wanted more of a protein punch without too many extra calories.  So I started to hunt through the cupboards searching for what protein powders we had and I stumbled across a sample pack of Vega One’s Vanilla Chai Nutritional Shake we received in the gift bag at The Seed last month.  I thought about it for a moment and realized that vanilla and chai would be the perfect combo to the dates and banana and so I hybridized my recipe and came up with a Vega Vanilla Chai Smoothie.

Prep Time: 2 minutes
Servings: 1

1 medium banana, frozen (we keep ours peeled and in the freezer, ready for smoothies)
4 Medjool dates, pitted
1/2 cup ice cold water
1  cup unsweetened almond milk
4 ice cubes
1 pack Vega One Vanilla Chai Nutritional Shake powder.

Add all ingredients into a high-power blender and mix well for 1 minute.  Pour into a glass and enjoy this sweet and lightly spiced mix of flavors.

I’ll admit; the color isn’t the most appetizing but don’t judge this shake by it’s color.  The taste will blow you away.
