Tickets for Woodstock Farm Santuary’s 10th annual ThanksLiving Banquet sold out in two shakes of a lamb’s tail, but we at The Vegan Mos have decided to part with two of our VIP table’s tickets in the form of a raffle to raise additional funds for the rescued animals.
We love to throw parties. Not just because we’re gay and it’s a fabulous thing to do. We particularly love to have people over to enjoy our outdoor terrace which was something we never expected to have when looking for an apartment in Brooklyn. It has views of the Williamsburg rooftops and the NYC skyline and it’s a great place to be outdoors, above the city noise and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat while watching the sun set over the city that never sleeps. In our video (below) you’ll learn all about the party and how you can get a ticket. Space is VERY limited and it’s going to sell out super fast! Better grab yours right now! Here is the direct link to buy tickets. We hope to see you on October 10!
3 Brothers Vegan Cafe is Long Island’s first and only 100% vegan restaurant. This addition to the 3 Brother’s Pizza Cafe chain is run by the amazing vegan chef Jay Astafa. If you want great Italian food, that just happens to be vegan, you need to check it out. What really makes 3 Brothers Vegan Cafe extraordinary is that they make their vegan cheeses including fresh cashew mozzarella, cashew milk cheddar, cashew parmesan, macadamia feta, cashew tofu ricotta, and cashew bleu cheese. Having homemade vegan cheese really sets 3 Brothers apart from all other Italian restaurants that offer vegan options.
Today, The Supreme Court of the United States issued its ruling in the case of Obergefell v. Hodges, effectively making marriage equality the law of the land. As someone who came out in the early 1990’s, the reality of today’s ruling was something I always hoped for, but never allowed myself to expect. It’s been quite a struggle for us to gain this equal right. Because of the litany of so-called “Defense of Marriage” Amendments to various states’ Constitutions, it often seemed more likely than not, that marriage equality would exist for some, but not all Americans. Nine years ago, marriage equality was not available to Michael and me in New York. We had to travel to Canada to be legally married. While we are forever grateful to our progressive neighbor to the north for affording us this right, it still stings that we had to leave our home, our country, to secure this basic
We’ve been in Jerusalem, Israel on vacation this week and have been taking in the sights and sounds of this beautiful, complex and culturally diverse city. One of the main attractions in this town is Machane Yehuda- The open air market or “Shuk”. There are so many delights for vegans to enjoy here. We decided to take you on a tour and show just a few of them. We hope you enjoy the video, below.

On my walk to the park with my dogs this morning, I was in a great mood. The sun was shining, the sky was crystal clear blue and the church bells were ringing. It was a picturesque early morning in Brooklyn. Then, out of nowhere, it came. A flatbed truck, open on the sides so you could see the dozens and dozens of crates stacked on top of each other. In each of these crates, 5 to 6 chickens were crammed in, completely unable to move. They were squawking, clearly terrified and obviously in pain. The stench was overwhelming. It was clear that they were urinating and defecating on top of each other as there was nowhere for them to move. Obviously I know that this happens, but it was totally out of context for me to see such an image in the middle of my residential urban neighborhood where, sadly,
Simply “being vegan” doesn’t automatically give products and business a pass on poor quality. The more we speak honestly and openly, the more we can all have an honest dialogue that will hopefully improve vegan products and businesses everywhere.
